Serious Issues
Over the last four weeks I’ve written about the upcoming election reviewing some of the upsides as well as the risks to each candidate. I’ve covered an Overview, Taxes, Regulations and Candidate Initiatives – each from an unbiased perspective about how each issue could affect investments and the economy.
I’ve focused strictly on the market impact of the election, with the economy a secondary concern, since that feeds into market impact. Our evaluation of the market impact is not a voting recommendation. There is always more at stake in elections than simply markets.
Although there are many issues that I could continue to write about I want to mention a handful that are just as important.
I also believe some of these will directly affect our investments and economy if we get them right as a nation. I’m not going to share my views on each of these here. These are issues that I’ve had many one-on-one conversations about if we’ve visited in the office or by phone recently.
The other issues I believe are critical to this election are:
- Each candidate’s position on the value of human life. Are they pro-life or pro-choice?
- Each candidate’s position on family. Are they pro-marriage or pro all the other alternatives to marriage?
- Each candidate’s position on church. Would they try to prevent churches from meeting in a way different from other organizations and therefore discriminate against churches?
- Each candidate’s position on Israel. Are they pro-Israel or not?
Want to catch up on any of these? Call me, I would be happy to buy you coffee.
Please vote. If you’re in Colorado, your ballot just arrived.
