Is summer finally here?!
I don’t know about you, but I’m excited for a change in seasons. What a winter we’ve had in Colorado. It’s been a great year so far, but an extremely busy one. Fortunately, we’re in for what looks like a beautiful summer, and everything is now so green. Don’t you love hearing the birds in the morning?
Summer is the season of travel and enjoying being outside. Here are some of our favorite Colorado things to do in the summer:
Hiking and Nature: We have breathtaking hiking trails, ranging from easy to challenging. Many are available to us within minutes. We love Seven Bridges, Saint Peters Dome, Garden of the Gods, Maroon Bells. I’ve also hiked Pikes Peak.
Mountain Biking: We’re not in for the extreme, however the best ride we’ve enjoyed has been Vail Pass. 12 miles of coasting down scenic Vail Pass and then lunch on the lake. We used the bike shuttle to get to the top of the pass.
Scenic Drives: The Million Dollar Highway (US Route 550), Trail Ridge Road (in Rocky Mountain National Park), and the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway (Estes Park). We also enjoy our local Gold Camp Road, Old Stage Road and have been all the way to Cripple Creek.
Colorado National Parks: Rocky Mountain National Park, Mesa Verde National Park, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, and Great Sand Dunes National Park are all great.
Outdoor Concerts: Maybe the most famous is Red Rock. Last year we enjoyed James Taylor at Fiddler’s Green.
The Broadmoor: This is one of our easiest places to stop when we have visitors in town. It’s easy to valet park, let them explore the five-start resort and then sit by the lake or have dinner.
There’s so much more. What are your favorites?
So, as we get deeper into the year, if there’s anything you want to get done, like new goals to set or goals to move forward on, always remember that we’re here to help. Have a great month and a wonderful summer.
